Vincent Mauger, an artist who has mastered the art of colonising spaces with his sculptures, is moving to Pontmain this summer. He is presenting a solo exhibition and creating a permanent work for the façade of the art centre, inspired by the star motif and evoking the cultural influence of the place.

Brick, plywood, PVC, steel... the machined materials unfold like a living organism, questioning our relationship with architecture. By playing on the shift in scale and contrasting the aesthetics of a virtual world with those of more traditional craftsmanship, Vincent Mauger creates spaces that are both familiar and strangely new, where artifice meets life.
 

Vincent Mauger, artiste passé maître dans la colonisation des espaces avec ses sculptures, s’installe cet été à Pontmain. Il présente une exposition personnelle et réalise pour la façade du centre d’art une œuvre pérenne, inspirée du motif de l’étoile et évoquant le rayonnement culturel du lieu.

Brique, contreplaqué, PVC, acier… les matériaux usinés se déploient tel un organisme vivant, questionnant notre relation à l’architecture. En jouant sur le décalage des échelles, et en confrontant l’esthétique d’un monde virtuel à celle d’un savoir-faire plus artisanal, Vincent Mauger crée des espaces à la fois familiers et étrangement nouveaux, où l’artifice rencontre le vivant.
