At the initiative of the Champs Libres and 40mcube, the artist Vincent Mauger is invited to intervene on the architecture of Christian de Portzamparc. He presents a monumental work which is aggregated on the roof of the building like an unidentified wavering extension.

For the past two years, Les Champs Libres and 40mcube have been jointly conducting an experiment that concretely implements the relationship between art and architecture. In 2013, Antoine Dorotte embedded an enigmatic sphere of scales in Christian de Portzamparc's building.

Vincent Mauger's sculptural installations represent landscapes that seem to come straight from a 3D simulation. Made from construction materials, bricks, breeze blocks, plastic tubs, whose ordinary character they transcend, they concretize a mental space made practicable for the public. These simple materials are cut and assembled on a modular and reproducible principle, like certain constructions, which allows the artist to adapt his works to the space and to play on questions of scale.

Creating in his work an obvious parallel between sculpture and architecture, Vincent Mauger conceives a new honeycombed installation which is assembled on the roof of the Champs Libres like an unidentified wavering extension.

À l’initiative des Champs Libres et de 40mcube, l’artiste Vincent Mauger est invité à intervenir sur l’architecture de Christian de Portzamparc. Il y présente une œuvre monumentale qui s’agrège sur le toit du bâtiment comme une extension vacillante non identifiée.

Les Champs Libres et 40mcube mènent conjointement depuis deux ans une expérimentation mettant en œuvre de façon concrète les relations entre art et architecture. En 2013, Antoine Dorotte avait ainsi incrusté une sphère d’écailles énigmatique dans le bâtiment de Christian de Portzamparc.

Les installations sculpturales de Vincent Mauger représentent des paysages qui semblent tout droit issus d’une simulation en 3D. Réalisées à partir de matériaux de construction, briques, parpaings, bacs plastique, dont elles transcendent le caractère ordinaire, elles concrétisent un espace mental rendu praticable pour le public. Ces matériaux simples sont découpés et assemblés sur un principe modulable et reproductible, à l’instar de certaines constructions, qui permet à l’artiste d’adapter ses œuvres à l’espace et de jouer sur des questions d’échelles.

Créant dans son travail un parallèle évident entre sculpture et architecture, Vincent Mauger conçoit une nouvelle installation alvéolée qui s’agrège sur le toit des Champs Libres comme une extension vacillante non-identifiée.
